Power Naps

I have recently discovered one of my weaknesses.

Naps.

I love them. Perhaps too much. I crave them. When I'm not in the middle of one, I'm thinking about one. Even one for twenty minutes. Which is funny, cuz I used to not be able to nap in the middle of the day. And they always made me more sleepy.

Not now. I just woke up from one and I feel so warm and fuzzy inside.

I would like to shake the hand of the person who created naps.

I think I'm addicted.

I just took a power nap today, what a timely topic.

I got 3 1/2 hours of sleep last night, so after FedEx and Art History I was about ready to pass out. I went up to my favorite place in the library on the second floor--there is a place with long cushioned benches that I use to visit a lot a couple semesters ago. There were Asian kids sprawled all over the place, but I found one, set my phone alarm, and fell asleep.

I woke up and there were even more people sleeping than before. I guess it was quite the popular little nook. There was even the cute blonde girl from my drawing class.

So when I got to drawing class later, sort of refreshed, I smoothly turn around to the cute blonde girl and say, "Hey, didn't I see you sleeping up in the library earlier?" I was all ready to start a deep and meaningful conversation about it, and maybe talk about the future of our relationship and what we should name our kids, when she said, "Ummm, no."

"Oh. ...I guess that wasn't you."

"No," she says, "but aren't you the creepy guy who watches girls sleep?"

Well, she didn't really say that.

But, aren't you?

Yes, Beeg! I have really weird dreams during my naps. Sometimes they're exciting though, I never know what's going to happen when I fall asleep.

Sometimes they're scary though. I wake up, and think, "Did I really do that?" And then my heart stops pounding and I sigh and fall back down for a few more minutes of cudding with Buddy and burying my face in the soft pillow.

Dave dreams of cute blondes during his power nap. Apparently he was still sleeping when he saw that chica from his drawing class.

Hey DAVE, WAKE UP!

Funny thing about naps...

So I was in the middle of my nightly nap (which normal people just call sleep) about two nights ago and was just getting to that really comfortable place right before happy dreams start when I was suddenly torn from my sleep by a screaming siren on the other side of my room.

Natz, I'll be going to bed about 9:15 tonight, so I should be ready for your phone call by about 10:00 my time... :p

Ouch, Dave. That just hurts. Can't say I've done exactly that, but I definitely feel for you. Another potentially smoot move bites the dust...

there's nothing like a great post about naps that just makes someone say 'smoot'

Morgan- When are you in your deepest sleep? I'll try and call you then. :)

Smoot... the ladies like that word. It's pretty smooth.

oh man, this is a rather fun post, yet because I can never sleep in anything other than a bed, when I'm lucky, I don't have the knowledge of what a stinkin nap is. Instead of napping I'd rather sit and stair at the wall, some people call in insomnia, I'd just say I'm uncomfortable.

Another note: I can't sleep on anything that's moving. On our way home from Europe, after an insanely exhausting trip with very little sleep, you'd think I'd probably have NO problem falling asleep on a transatlantic flight, especially considering everyone else was... pilots and all, heck I think the copilot was out before we took off, not me!

and no it's not because anything is worrying me, it just doesn't work. and no I'm not crazy, I just don't want to wake Tyler Durden up.....

While we're on the subject, I'm buying tickets for the Caedmon's/Bebo concert this Sunday in Kokomo. Anyone interested?

Memories! The first (and only) time I saw Caedmon's Call and Bebo Norman together in concert was the Fall of 1998. It was the first time I'd seen either group, actually...and the first time I had ever heard of Bebo Norman. I remember thinking, "Man, what a weird name." It was the Friday night before college weekend at Purdue, and I hung out with Andy Howell (Is that how you spell it?) and Mandy Bates. Anyway...great times.

Morgan, that will be an awesome concert too! I LOVE Caedmon's Call.

David- Aw, Andy. I miss that guy. Haven't seen him since Christmas. Easter will be here soon, I guess I'll see him then. And yes, that is how you spell his name.

this doesn't have anything to do with power naps or concerts, but i found a good quote for you natalie:

Women are like elephants to me: nice to look at, but I wouldn't want to own one. -- W.C. Fields

I like that quote for the simple fact it says elephants. But I think it's an insult...

don't worry. i don't think most men think that way. i know i don't because i'd really like to own an elephant...

If I had an elephant I'd name him Sir Poonji, and we'd roam the countryside fighting insjustice.

For some reason I just thought of the movie "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" thinking about you and an elephant fighting injustice.
